Beer & Banjos is a free weekly music series featuring roots, bluegrass, Americana, and folk music, every Monday on the rooftop of The Pit, 7-9:30p. (or in the basement, depending on weather) Michelle Belanger fronts the Mystery Hillbillies, applying her powerful voice and dance inspiring guitar skills to a selection of tunes that sit at the intersection of 50s r&b, classic country, rockabilly, hillbilly boogie, and swing. She combines familiar and classic tunes from Patsy, Hank, Emmylou, and Chuck Berry with surprises from Brenda Lee, Webb Pierce, Rodney Crowell, and Ray Charles – stuff you don’t hear anywhere else. She will be ably assisted by the very excellent Colby Jack on upright bass, and John Worthington on lead guitar. Both are seasoned players with over 20 years experience each, playing classic country, rockabilly, swing, and r&b. They are sure to get you moving so bring your dancing shoes.
